Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), have arrested a woman said to be the wife of a terror kingpin while a large cache of 150 AK-47 rifles and thousands of ammunition were allegedly discovered when their house was searched.

The arrest of the woman, according to security sources, followed a tip off from neighbours of the suspects in Kulobe community in Gbeganu area of Minna, Niger State.

A security source told journalists who visited the area that when the operatives stormed the house in the early hours of Tuesday, the suspected terrorist saw them through his Close Circuit Television camera and engaged them in a gun battle.

The terror suspect reportedly escaped arrest after he used a rocket launcher to bring down part of the fence of his house, leaving behind his wife and children who were taken into custody by the security operatives.

The security source said during a thorough search of the house, over 150 AK-47 riffles, explosives, a rocket launcher, an anti-aircraft rifle, and ammunition, numbering over 3,000 were evacuated from the suspect’s house and carted away to the office of the DSS.

The spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, Abiodun Wasiu, has however, not confirmed the incident as he was yet to make any comment at the time of going to press.
