D'Tigers vs Cote d'Ivoire

Nigeria Men’s Basketball team, D’Tigers, will be looking to extend their winning streak in the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers when they face Central African Republic (CAR) on Saturday.

The Alex Nwora’s men continued their quest to qualify for the China tournament beating Ivory Coast 84-73 on Friday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National stadium in Surulere.

The victory meant the Nigerian men have gone seven games without defeat, and they hope to maintain the run with clashes against CAR and Senegal line up for them in this round.

Against Ivory Coast, team captain, Ike Diogu scored 13 points while Ikechukwu Nwamu, Al Farouq Aminu and Ben Uzoho all scored 11 points.

“We are doing this for the name (Nigeria) in front of our jerseys. We want to make our families proud,” Aminu told the media after the game.

“If we lose, you won’t remember who I am. At the end of the day, you have to learn how to win games. We just are still putting the number thing on our agenda, which is winning.”

Five teams will represent Africa at the first-ever 32-team FIBA Basketball World Cup billed to take place between August 30-September 15, 2019 in China.
