Court remands 51-yr-old Polytechnic lecturer for rape, murder of 13-yr-old girl

A fake lawyer, Sunday Ejiofor has been sentenced to three years in prison by a chief magistrates’ court in Choba, Rivers State.

The police prosecutor, Tom Ledornun on Monday told the court that Ejiofor defrauded a commercial motorcyclist Wisdom Phillip on March 25, 2019, along Aluu Road.

According to Ledornun, the convict had hired Phillip, to convey him to different places, but refused to pay the agreed sum of N15,000 for the three-day service.

He told the court that the convict showed the motorcyclist an identification card bearing his (Ejiofor) passport photograph, which indicated that he was a lawyer before onlookers became interested and took both of them to the police.

After pleading guilty to one charge levelled against him, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Israel Agbeso, sentenced the convict to three years in prison because the accused did not inconvenience the court during the trial, while the sentence was without any option of fine.
