After a rather short World Cup campaign with the Super Eagles, defender William Troost-Ekong has returned to his Turkish club Bursaspor.

The 24-year old is happy to be back in training ahead of the new Turkish Super League season.

“First training with the boys. Feels good to be back! ???,” Troost-Ekong wrote on his Twitter handle as caption to some training photos.

Ekong, who was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, featured in all of the team’s three games in the tournament.

The Eagles failed to get past the group stages of the tournament, as Croatia and Argentina scaled through Group D to the knockout stages.

Ekong had earlier tweeted after France emerged winners of the World Cup: “What a World Cup it has been! Congratulations to @equipedefrance. Now time to get back to work with @BursasporSk again for the new season! ? #AllForHim #Russia2018.”

He made 27 league appearances for Bursaspor last season, scoring two goals.

Bursaspor will begin their league campaign this season with an away game against Fenerbahce on August 11.
