Five suspects arrested in Kano for buying, selling PVCs

No less than five suspects have been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for buying and selling permanent voters card (PVC) for unsuspecting voters.

The two female suspects identified as Sa’adatu of Brigade Quarters and Halima of Tal’udu Quarters were arrested at Gama Quarters in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, disclosed that eight PVC and N10,000 were recovered from the suspects, adding that, “Investigation is on to unmask the persons connected to the crime with a view to prosecuting them in court”.

The police also revealed that two more suspects, Suleman and Dankanawa, all of Gama ‘A’ Quarters in Nassarawa Council, were also arrested on suspicion of buying PVCs.

DSP Abdullahi added; “Those who arrested the other two suspects wanted to lynch them but they were rescued by the police from the angry mob”.

The police chief also used the opportunity to warn the public that buying and selling of PVCs remains an offence punishable under the Electoral Act.
