I am falsely accused and will plead not guilty in court, Trump's ex-campaign associate Stone says

The former campaign associate of Donald Trump, Roger Stone says he’ll plead not guilty in court after he was arrested on criminal charges on Friday.

Stone who was arrested on charges of obstruction, witness tampering and making false statements related to the release of stolen Democratic Party emails during the presidential campaign in 2016, says he’s been falsely charged.

Regarded as Trump’s longtime ally, Stone who is now scheduled to appear at the federal courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at 11 am EST (1600 GMT), says he’ll plead not guilty in court.

“I am falsely accused,” Stone said outside the court in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, declaring himself “troubled by the political motivations of the prosecutors”.

He also pledged his support for Trump – one of his “oldest friends” – saying, “I have made it clear that I will not testify against the president because I would have to bear false witness against him.”
