Ex-Lagos Speaker, 49 others arrested over killing of police officer

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday had a closed door meeting with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.

This appears to have heightened speculations as to whether or not the president plans to extend the tenure of the police boss.

Idris was officially due for retirement on Thursday January 3, 2019 and would be marking his 60th birthday on January 15, 2019.

However, a day after he was due to be retired, the police boss met with President Buhari behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

While what transpired between the two during the meeting that took place Friday afternoon was not public, speculations that Buhari plots to extend his tenure so that he can oversee the security of the February polls have heightened.
