The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the postponement of the governorship and State House of Assembly election in Chikun Ward, Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State due to lack of security.

This was disclosed in Kaduna on Saturday by the commission’s Head of Election Operations Support Centre in the state, Mr. Murtala Dalhat.

Dalhat explained that the commission would announce a new date after complaints of inaccessibility by election officials due to security challenges.

The Ward which has 6,213 registered voters and 18 polling units was being monitored by INEC’s Situation Room in Kaduna.

He added that voting had been concluded in more than 70 per cent of the polling units in the state.

“So far, over 40 per cent of Electoral Officers across the state have returned to their various registration areas to submit results of the ballot,” he added.
