Super Eagles legend, Kanu Nwankwo will be leading a lineup of African football legends in a charity match against English Premier League legends.
The former Arsenal star will be playing alongside Austine Jay-Jay Okocha, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Danny Shittu and other continental legends of the round-leather game.
The game, billed to hold on September 30th at the Hive Stadium, London, is to raise money and awareness for the Kanu Heart Foundation.
The foundation seeks to raise the profile of heart diseases in Africa and increase awareness through education, improving the quality of physical and psychological care for patients and their families and undertaking vital research.
“If I wasn’t lucky enough to have access to such an amazing medical team when I experienced a serious heart defect, I might not be here today. I set up the Kanu Heart Foundation to help others in the same position who are less fortunate, ” Kanu told mastersfootball.com.
“The new cardiac centre in Abuja will help hundreds of people get access to vital heart treatment without having to travel abroad. I am proud that so many amazing ex-pros will be joining me in the Petrolex Masters Cup in association with Masters Football – it will be an amazing day and great help for the charity.”
