Many Buhari supporters killed, as tragedy strikes at Maiduguri rally

Several Nigerians who gathered at a rally of President Muhammadu Buhari at the Ramat Square, Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday have reportedly died following a tragic event.

Reports say tragedy struck when several men and women, mostly supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Buhari climbed the roofs of pavilions at the venue, in efforts to have a vantage view of speakers at the rally.

Unfortunately, one of the roofs came crashing down on other spectators on the floor killing many and injuring others.

Meanwhile, Buhari is said to have expressed sadness over the tragic occurrence and has condoled with the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed that the injured recover quickly.

According to Vanguard, Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said, “I am shocked to hear about the loss of lives following the tragic incident at the stadium this afternoon in Maiduguri. May Allah repose the souls of the deceased.
