OGUN: 40-yr-old man kills co-worker while trying to rape her

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 40-year-old man identified as Abiodun Idowu who allegedly killed his co-worker Abimbola Hamzat, 38, while attempting to rape her.

Reports say the suspect who works as a driver in the same satchet water making company where the victim worked as an accountant was arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command after a report was lodged.

According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect had been pestering the victim for an amorous affair which she bluntly turned down.

The Police PPRO added that Idowu committed the crime when the victim was all alone in the premises of their work place by attempting to have forceful carnal knowledge of Hamzat who struggled with the suspect who later strangled her to death in the process.

The Police PPRO added that on discovering that he had strangled his victim to death, the suspect attempted to take his life by ingesting Hypo and Dettol but was quickly rushed to a hospital for medical attention.

Oyeyemi said, “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta, for further investigation.”
