Pistorius denies suicide attempt report

The South African Olympic gold medalist who was accused of killing his girlfriend is due to be released next week after 304 days in prison.
And that is not all, the disgraced sports man will be used as a guinea pig to test out a new prison electronic tag. He will be fitted with the new tag, a scheme the South African government aimed at saving money and making space in the country’s over-crowded prison.
Prison chiefs are still finalising the conditions of Pistorius’, 28, release into ‘corrective supervision’ just 10 months into his five year sentence for manslaughter. One of the decisions they need to make is where to fix the tag on Pistorius who lost both legs below the knee since he was a baby. The tag is supposed to go around the ankle.
Pistorious was sentenced to 5-years in prison for shooting and killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp dead through a locked bathroom door at his home on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
He was cleared of murder after telling that he had mistook his lover of three months for a burglar.
Reeva Steenkamp would have turned 31 next Wednesday. Her family is protesting the news of Pistorius’ release.
June Steenkamp, 68, told South Africa’s Citizen Newspaper: ‘I don’t think it’s a good idea to let him back in society so quickly. He shot my daughter through that door where she had no space to move or defend herself.
‘One of the bullets blew her brains out, it is disgusting what he did to her – 10 months is just not enough.’
The track star will be released to his wealthy businessman uncle, Arnold Pistorius.
