Police releases identities of officers killed by IPOB members

The Police in Anambra have released the names of its officers who were allegedly killed by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state on Monday.

The names of the officers as released by the police are Mr Joseph Akubo, an assistant superintendent attached to the special anti-robbery squad and Mr Oliver Abbey, an assistant commissioner, who was the area commander in charge of Oraifite area of the state.

The police had said that the officers were killed during a raid at the home of Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Ripples Nigeria reported on Tuesday that the state police command had declared Ejiofor wanted.

It had while declaring him wanted, said that its men had gone to Ejiofor’s home for a search following a report that it was being used to hide a kidnap victim.

Police released the names of its officers killed during the raid after IPOB denied attacking policemen at Ejiofor’s home and its leader, Kanu claimed that it was the police, who killed two of their members.
