‘Prepare for another spectacular defeat at Supreme Court,’ APC tells PDP, Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday expressed optimism that the Supreme Court would uphold President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to prepare for another round of “spectacular defeat” at the Supreme Court.

The ruling party’s reaction followed the PDP’s prediction of its success at the apex court.

In the statement, APC reminded the major opposition party and its candidate that court cases are won on grounds of credible evidence and not fabrications.

The party urged the PDP to bury the hope of upturning Tinubu’s victory at the Supreme Court.

The apex court on Monday reserved rulings in the appeals filed by Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, after the parties adopted their written briefs at the hearing.

The statement read: “Deep in hallucination, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed confidence that its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, would prevail in his appeal at the Supreme Court. This vain confidence was expressed in its statement of October 22, 2023.

“Court cases are won on the strength of cogent, credible, compelling or substantial evidence, not on hollow, implausible, capricious tales and fabrications of the kind that Atiku Abubakar dumped on the court in the guise of a ‘body of evidence’, evidencing nothing.’

“Its claim that the election was ‘manipulated’ against its candidate is both ridiculous and insulting to millions of Nigerians who voted massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Presidential Candidate, now President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The PDP and its candidate’s desperate resort to blackmail, disinformation, misinformation, and malicious falsehoods against the President and our great Party is intended to prospectively downplay what promises to be a spectacular and ignominious defeat that awaits the PDP and its nemesis of a presidential candidate.”
