Relief for Stella Monye as ailing son is flown abroad for major surgery

Veteran Nigerian musician Stella Monye can now heave a sigh of relief as her son, Ibrahim has been flown abroad for a life-saving surgery after the sum of $50,000 (N20 million) was raised for his treatment.

Stella’s son who is now currently in New York City has reportedly undergone a series of tests at the New York University Hospital at Langone, NY, under the care of respected medical practitioner Dr. Lee, C Zhao.

Reports say Dr. Zhao, 30, who specializes in reconstructive surgery for reproductive organs and urinary system has assured Stella Monye that her son will live a normal life again.

“I will give Ibrahim his life back. It will only take time. I will fix it,” he said during a meeting with the musician.

Stella’s son, now 27, was 10 years when he fell on a sharp object that pierced deep into his scrotum and an initial surgery created more problems which led to other complications including kidney disease.

He has been operated upon many times because the kidney collapses frequently with his mother constantly going through the excruciating burden of an enduring treatment for her son, and raising money for his treatment but she can now hope for a new beginning for her son in sound health.
