Soldiers kill DSS operative during argument in Ekiti

Soldiers on Friday evening killed a Department of State Services (DSS) operative in a hotel in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

An eyewitness told journalists on Saturday that the incident occurred when a gang of three soldiers stormed the hotel located along NTA Road in Ado Ekiti Ekiti on Friday evening and an argument ensued between them and the DSS operative.

He added that during the argument, one of the soldiers stabbed the deceased on the neck.

“The DSS operative bled profusely and died before help could reach him,” the eyewitness stated.

The soldiers were later arrested by six DSS operatives who stormed the hotel a few minutes after the incident.

The spokesman of the Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident.

He said the DSS operative was killed during an argument with some soldiers, adding that the police had commenced an investigation into the incident.

Abutu said: “We heard that the DSS operative was killed during an argument with some soldiers yesterday (Friday) evening.

“The deceased’s corpse had been deposited in the morgue. The perpetrators of the murder had been arrested.

“Let me also add that our detectives have started the investigation and we will get to the root of the matter.”
