Super Falcons maintain perfect start at ​WAFU


The Super Falcons of Nigeria won all three group games ​at the on​​going West African Football Union (WAFU) Women’s Cup​ after​ defeating ​Togo 3-1 on Monday night.

The Nigerian ladies kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win over Mali, thrashed Senegal 3-0 in their second group game, and now Togo.

Anam Imo, Chinaza Uchendu and Chioma Wogu ​put the Nigeria on a comfortable lead before Wediko Afi grabbed a consolatory goal​ for Togo​ ​in the 81st minute​.

​Imo opened the scoring on​ 40 minutes w​hen she​ beat​ ​Togolese goalkeeper Amouklou Ame from close range​, before ​Uchendu headed in a cross ​to double the lead​ at the start of the second half.

​Wogu tapped in a 71st​-​minute​ third​; and Nigeria were heading to a clean sheet when Togo ​pulled one back ​from the spot.

The Super Falcons are winners of Group B on 9 points, and are now in the semifinals.
