Tech meets transport: GIGM opens new path, launches operation in Ghana

After years of success as a transport sector player in Nigeria, tech-first transportation company, GIGM, on Friday launched operation in Ghana, unveiling take-off terminals in Accra and Kumasi to take its first-class mobility experience to the Gold Coast.

Entering into the Ghana territory with its luxury Jet Mover buses, the road and logistics king would be competing with existing players who have been operating in the space for years.

However, the company’s over 20 years record of excellence in Nigeria, transiting from a basic road transport company to become the sector trailblazer, seems to be an edge for the GIGM team. With encouraging trip appraisals replete on the internet testifying to GIGM’s top-notch service, the company looks set to match and overtake competition in its  chosen new space.

Tech meets transport

Aside from being the foremost road transport company in West Africa to revolutionise the outlook of road travels, GIGM has been pioneering technological transformation within the transport niche, and has fast metamorphosed into a full-tech facility driving and enhancing the transportation game.

Considering how complicated the industry has been over the years, GIGM has succeeded courtesy of its depth of expertise in the field and its future-thinking investment strategies that (at all times) put ease for customers first.

Worthy of mention, here, in this review, amongst these strategies, is how the company has embraced tech to deliver remarkable services through digitalisation of booking, payment and other itinerary processes.

The GIG Mobility App

The evolution –from GIG Motors to GIG Mobility- speaks of efforts to properly depict and represent the vision of the company. Its customer App (GIG Mobility) – designed for booking and placing reservations on mobile – has redefined how road users who have chosen to identify with GIGM interact with bus terminals. This has gone a long way to cut down on time and reduce stress towards achieving comfort.

It is for this reason that competitors might have to struggle to beat the GIGM standards as the company continues to raise the bar. It would be recalled that in the history of e-ticketing in Nigeria by transport companies, GIGM was the pioneer.

The competition

Although, the Ghana launch might have come and gone, its impact will continue to turn stones and melt some rods in the industry. As true in any market or industry, when players are not as adroit and tech-savvy as a competitor, there are chances that customers are easily converted to the side of the more tech-spirited option in various customers’ attempts to try alternatives. And, when the alternative seems better, they are readily won unto the other side.

GIGM, by estimating its investment in a series of staff training and constant doubling up of its infrastructures, seems to have staked a lot in becoming the industry leader.

The GIGM Experience

While it might not be easy for GIGM to overrun competition over the night, as humans by nature can be very reluctant opting between options, the ambience and much more adventurous experience of conveying passengers as offered by the GIGM team via its exotic fleets of Jet Mover buses would be all any passenger would crave to experience and would easily get obsessed with after a feel.

Since Friday’s launch, there have been several special mentions from reviewers, on the standalone multimedia gadgets with which passengers can while away time, watching movies or listening to music throughout a trip like an experience in an aircraft.

Emerging reviews

On Sunday, November 24th, a driving tour was made. Following this post-launch travel experience from its Accra terminal to Lagos; emerging reviews have established how passengers have, fast, come to love the GIGM experience, reiterating the transport company’s commitment to reshape and redefine the transportation space.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Operating Officer, Vuakpor Muoghere had said, “At GIGM, we believe in anticipating the unspoken needs of customers when it comes to transportation. This forms the bedrock of all innovative features deployed by the company.”

The days ahead will, no doubt, tell where this tech-meet-transport momentum of the GIGM is leading to. Will some players be displaced? Or, will some sit up to stand the heat?
