Tension as US set to open Jerusalem embassy

There is growing tension across the occupied Palestinian territories as the US is preparing to open its embassy in Jerusalem.

Reports say a US delegation which includes President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband and senior adviser Jared Kushner have all flown to Israel for the opening of the embassy.

Last December, Trump formally recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and made a decision to move its embassy there from Tel Aviv, breaking with decades of US policy.

The controversial move by Trump has sparked protests with reports revealing that demonstrations are being planned to call on Palestinians’ right of return to the homes from which they were expelled in 1948.
