Tottenham fight back to earn 2-2 draw at Manchester City

In a thrilling Premier League encounter, Tottenham Hotspur came from two goals down to earn a draw at Manchester City on Saturday.

City, looking to bounce back from a 4-0 loss at Everton last week, started brightly and had numerous opportunities to take the lead before half-time, but the Pep Guardiola’s side couldn’t reach the back of the net in the first 45 minutes.

Spurs goalkeeper Lloris headed an attempted clearance straight at Leroy Sane who then made a simple finish exactly four minutes into the second half, and then dropped Raheem Sterling’s routine cross straight at Kevin De Bruyne’s feet five minutes later to concede another goal.

However, the visitors responded swiftly through Dele Alli’s header in the 58th minute.

And about 15 minutes to the end of regulation time, when the home team should have been awarded a penalty as Raheem Sterling was pushed by Kyle Walker but was denied by the Referee, Spurs scored the equaliser.

As it is now, Man City remain fifth on the league table, three points off second-place Tottenham and nine away from leaders Chelsea, who will play Hull City on Sunday.

Tottenham will return to league action on 31 January against Sunderland, after their FA Cup fourth-round tie with Wycombe next Saturday; while Manchester City will travel to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on 28 January before meeting West Ham on 1 February.
