UCL SEMIS: Juve to play Monaco as holders Madrid face city rivals

Italian giants Juventus have been drawn to play their French counterparts Monaco in the Champions League last four, as Spanish sides Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will face each other.

The semi-final fixtures were drawn at the Uefa headquarters on Friday.

Juventus thumped Spanish champions Barcelona to reach this stage of the competition, as Monaco also defeated Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund to get here.

The first leg of the tie will be played in France on Wednesday May 3rd, before having the return fixture in Italy the following week in Italy.

Current champions Real Madrid sent Bayern Munich packing 6-3 on aggregate in order to advance to the last four, while their city rivals Atletico Madrid saw off English champions, Leicester City in the last-8.

The Zinedine Zidane’s side could become the first club to retain the trophy in the Champions League era, as they continue in their quest for the showdown at Cardiff.

Both teams will play first at Santiago Bernabeu Tuesday May 2nd, before having the return leg at Atletico the following week.

Meanwhile, at the event on Friday, the Champions League trophy has been handed to the Wales First Minister Carwyn Jones to take back to the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff, where it will be on display until the Champions League final on 3 June.
