English Premier League side, Tottenham have crashed out of the UEFA Champions League after falling 2-1 at home to Serie A side Juventus in the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Having picked up a 2-2 draw away at Turin, Spurs dominated the first half with a goal to show for it, but conceded twice in the second half to lose the game at Wembley.

Son Heung-Min put the home team ahead six minutes before the break, but Juve came from behind– with goals by Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala on 64th and 67th minute respectively– to win the tie.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are the first English team to be eliminated from this season’s Champions League.

At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City also lost 2-1 to Basel, but won the tie on aggregate to advance to the next round of the competition.

City thumped the Swiss side 4-0 in the first leg of the encounter and did not really need much impression at home to ensure qualification, hence manager Pep Guardiola resting several first-team players.

Only 8 minutes into the game, Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring by tapping home Bernardo Silva’s cross.

But Mohamed Elyounoussi lashed home a leveller and then set up Michael Lang’s second-leg winner, which made no difference.

As it stands, City, Juventus, Real Madrid and Liverpool have clinched their last-eight spots this week.
