2019: Banky W goes cap in hand, seeks funding for political campaign

Musician turned politician Banky W is seeking funding for his bid to represent Eti-Osa at the federal house of representatives candidate on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP).

The Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) honcho who also revealed that his wife’s immediate reaction when he old her about his political ambition was one of intense worry, made the appeal in a post on Instagram.

Banky W wrote thus on the social media platform; “Plato once said that the punishment for not getting involved in politics is that you’ll end up being ruled by your inferiors. Now is the time for us to begin to turn that boat around. My wife gave me her blessing and support – and now I need yours. You may or may not live in my constituency, but I need your backing to reach them and win this seat.

“The Modern Democratic Party is a movement for and by the young Nigerians. We believe that there is nothing and no one more powerful than the voice of the people. We also believe that it is possible to go up against the richest political machinery in our country and win. Our logo has a ladder in it, because it represents our generation’s need to climb out of this mess.

“We will use this seat as a rallying point to build from, and we will play our part to help fix Nigeria, one community at a time. We can do this, if we do it together. His comment are coming weeks aftef he weighed-in on voter apathy as the 2019 general elections draws closer, when he said things will remain thesame if the electorate does not exercise their rights.

The R&B crooner who revealed that much in an interview added that those who collect money from politicians to vote during elections should not complain about the economy when politicians fleece the coffers.

He also noted that the electorate in Nigeria is now wiser and they cannot be fooled anymore.
