In what is seen as a surprising achievement by many, three-year-old Oratilwe Hlongwane who goes by the stage name DJ Arch Junior emerged the winner at the just concluded South Africa’s Got Talent reality TV show.

The son of a part-time DJ and professional gymnast (the youngest ever in the contest) carted home the star prize of $35,000 in cash and a one-way ticket to stardom for winning the competition.

His success according to his mother, Refiloe Marumo, is due to his father, Glen Hlongwane’s decision to buy an iPad for his son who was still unborn at the time.

DJ Arch Junior’s father planned to download educational apps to speed his child’s education but also decided to download a DJ app for himself which his son later became familiar with.

The talented DJ got a chance to partake in the reality TV show after a video of him mixing a popular house tune became viral on social media.

“They saw his video and posted about him on twitter saying this kid is going to be famous,”

Shortly after his son’s win, Mr Hlongwane admitted he was “blown away” by his son’s performance.

“You know, for a 3 year-old I’m just blown away. Never mind him winning the competition, the fact he stood on stage, did a set, finished it and still clicked stop is amazing. I don’t know any other 3 year old kids would stand there without their parents.”

The exploits of DJ Arch Junior have not gone unnoticed as he has been listed to perform at his first international event- Botswana’s Annual Kids Festival which will be staged this weekend.
