Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez scored twice for Algeria in a 2-2 draw against Zimbabwe in their opening Group B fixture on Sunday at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The current African player of the Year opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Kudakwashe Mahachi scored to cancel out the lead five minutes later for the Zimbabweans.
Zimbabwe later took the lead in the half hour mark from the penalty spot, converted by Nyasha Mushekwi.
Mahrez then pulled in the leveller with a spectacular 25-yard shot that beat Zimbabwe goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva nine minutes before the end of regulation time.
In the other Group B fixture, Liverpool star Sadio Mane scored a penalty before Kara Mbodji doubled the lead for Senegal as they began their AFCON campaign with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Tunisia.
Senegal now top the group with three point, followed by Algeria and Zimbabwe with one point each, and Tunisia at the bottom with zero point.
