AUSTRALIA: 3 suspects arrested for plotting terrorist attack

Three men suspected of planning a terrorist attack in the city of Melbourne, Australia have been arrested by local police.

According to police officials, the three men who were nabbed following intelligence report were planning an attack in Melbourne with the aim of killing ‘as many people as possible’.

“We now have sufficient evidence to act in relation to preventing a terrorist attack,” Graham Ashton, chief commissioner of Victoria Police, told reporters after the arrest of the suspects.

Graham added that the three men who are Australians of Turkish descent aged 30, 26 and 21 – will be charged with terrorism-related offences and will face life in prison if found guilty.
