Bayern block Allardyce’s move for Paul Clement

BAYERN MUNICH have stopped Paul Clement joining Sam Allardyce’s England set-up.
Big Sam wanted to make Clement part of his new regime and the ex-Derby boss was keen.
But Clement is serving as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Bayern and the German giants have blocked him going.
Allardyce wanted the 44-year-old to be part of his backroom team and the FA were hoping to strike an agreement with Bayern that would see Clement work part-time with England in international breaks.
FA chief executive Martin Glenn confirmed on Monday that a deal for Clement was being pursued but Starsport understands Bayern have not been persuaded, having only appointed Clement in June.
Club chiefs instead believe he should be fully concentrated on one job.
Clement has worked for the FA before.
He helped England’s Under-21 manager, Gareth Southgate, on an informal basis last season following his departure from Derby.
Allardyce’s first game in charge of England is at their opening World Cup qualifier in Slovakia on September 4.
He has already added trusted right-hand man Sammy Lee to his coaching staff.
Lee, 57, has worked extensively with the FA in the past and has 14 England caps from his playing days, but there is an eagerness to bring in a younger man to fulfil the spot vacated by Gary Neville.
