BOXING: Don't fight Fury, Holyfield tells Joshua

Boxing icon Evander Holyfield has told Anthony Joshua to forget about the idea of fighting Tyson Fury and concentrate on a much more serious contest.

Joshua has been linked with an all-British bout with Fury who has not stepped into the boxing ring since November 2015.

In April, Joshua triumphed over boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko by knocking out the 41-year-old in the 11th round, to retain his International Boxing Federation (IBF) world title, adding the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) titles as a result.

Joshua’s victory meant he and Fury have now beaten the famous Klitschko. Both men have been trading insults since April, with both camps talking up a potential showdown.

Joshua is yet to officially announce his next fight, but Holyfield believes picking Fury would be a huge mistake.

“Joshua has to think about his image. He doesn’t need to be against someone like Fury who jokes a lot and is seen in a different light,” said Holyfield, as reported by the Sun.
