The imprisonment of Kim Davies, the court clerk who refused to issue marriage license to gay partners in US must have sent shivers down many a spines. Moreover, celebrities abhor anything that would raise outcry from the gay community or term them bigots.

Chris Brown almost landed himself in a bigot hot water for not performing in a gay pride parade and he had to quickly debunk the rumour that he skipped the event because there were gay men there.

According to Perez Hilton, he came out to deny the accusations in a series of tweets:

Chris Brown stopped by Atlanta on Saturday to put on a performance for his One Hell Of A Nite tour, but one event promoter says he bailed on a gay pride event that same night.

Melissa Scott — the founder of the group sponsoring the LGBT event — claims Chris was slated to perform during Atlanta Black Gay Pride Weekend, but supposedly backed out after hearing that “a handful of gay men were present.”
Melissa mentioned that she was still going back and forth with the singer’s team at 2 a.m. the night he was allegedly set to go on stage saying:

> “I had to send text messages of pictures of my crowd to say, there’s nothing but girls in here man.”

She also said his people were asking her to take down the promotional photo she was using because he “looks a little feminine.”
The party promoter even said she had to call in Fetty Wap at the last minute to fill in for Chris.
And in spite of all the drama, she says the Ayo singer still kept his retainer fee!

However, the 26-year-old took to Twitter on Monday to shut the stories down, denying he even knew about the LGBT show.

I wasn’t aware or informed of a show I supposedly cancelled. I have nothing but love and respect for the LGBT COMMUNITY.

The show was never confirmed by any of my people. So I apologize if the fans wanted me there.

I honestly wasn’t booked for the show. Hopefully in the future we can do it right. Much love LGBT

Chris’ reps backed up his side of the story, saying Melissa made the entire thing up, and just promoted the musician’s appearance to get fans excited.

Notably, Chris Brown had been kind of spiritual recently and it wouldn’t be a surprise that the bigot trap was laid for him by his detractors.
