President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFf), Amaju Pinnick said the national women’s team, Super Falcons, should have had a world-class manager by now but for the coronavirus pandemic.

The Falcons have been without a manager since last October when Thomas Dennerby resigned following a misunderstanding between himself and the Federation.

Pinnick, speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Monday, said the process of replacing the Swedish had already begun before the outbreak of the virus, as the NFF had outsourced the search to PwC.

The football chief also mentioned that there were many world-class coaches who had shown interested in the Falcons job.

“We ought to have done this by now because like I said, it is out of our hands now,” said Pinnick

“We contracted PwC as a consultant to advertise and get us a world-class coach and they were in the process of doing that before the coronavirus (outbreak) started.

“We had given them deadline; we want them to appoint a coach before the end of April, so that the coach could start work immediately.

“But the good news is that we have a lot of coaches that have shown interest, if I mention their names you will be shocked, but I won’t.”

The Super Falcons are nine-time champions of Africa, and would have been preparing by now to defend their title ahead of this year’s AWCON but for the coronavirus outbreak.
