Court sends man to prison for bathing policeman with hot soup

A 33-year old man, Emmanuel Imole, has been ordered remanded in prison custody for allegedly bathing a police officer with hot soup.

The remand order was made by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Bankole Olasunkanmi, informed the court that the offense was committed on June 13 at about 5.30p.m. at Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti.

According to him, the accused unlawfully poured hot soup on a police officer attached to Iyin Police Station while performing his lawful duty.

The prosecutor asked for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
Ruling on the adjournment request, the magistrate, Idowu Ayenimo, ordered the accused remanded in prison custody pending when his counsel files his written application for bail, while he adjourned the case till July 7.
