Trump dealt unsettling news as lawyer pleads guilty, ex-campaign chair convicted

Despite receiving no moral or financial support from the US Congress, President Donald Trump has vowed to build the controversial border wall with Mexico.

Trump made the assertion during his State of the Union speech on Tuesday noting that illegal immigration was an urgent national crisis.

“In the past, most of the people in this room voted for a wall, but the proper wall never got built. I will get it built,” Trump said in the highly anticipated speech before a joint session of the U.S. Congress, with his main Democratic adversary, new House of Representatives Speaker Nancy, watching over his shoulder.

Trump’s comments comes hours after the US deployed an additional 2,000 troops to its border with Mexico in a bid to contain the increasing number of refugees and asylum seekers seeking to illegally force their way into the US.

That much information was revealed by the Pentagon which noted that the addition will bring the total number of troops stationed on the southern border to about 4,300.

The Pentagon added that the soldiers would help border-patrol agents, carry out surveillance work and install miles of razor wire.
