Former Edo Deputy governor, Imasuen, set to join APC

PDP cries to UN, NBA, accuses Oshiomhole of using violence, state power to intimidate opponent, manipulate poll

Former Edo State deputy governor, Chief Lucky Imasuen, may soon dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and pitch his tent with All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ripples learnt that the former deputy governor’s decision may not be unconnected with the fact that, apart from having a running battle with PDP, he stands to gain some grounds in APC which is now the ruling party in the state.

Imasuen was suspended by PDP on Wednesday for alleged anti-party activities.

Sources said Imasuen was eyeing the APC because of his desperation to get his benefits as former deputy governor of Edo state, a privilege that has been denied him all this while by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Besides, it was said that the former deputy governor might be trying to ‘run for cover’ so that he would not be prosecuted for his roles as South-South Vice-Chairman of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) or he was either financially lured by the state governor to play some roles as the state’s governorship election draws closer.

But apart from the former deputy governor, Ripples gathered the leader of PDP in Edo South Senatorial district may also defect to the APC.

In a statement signed by Edo State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chris Nehikhare, Imasuen and two other suspended members have been directed to appear before a Disciplinary Committee of the Party on Monday, September 21 in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He added the decision was “in the spirit of rebirth and reorganization of the PDP and in line with the solemn pledge to bequeath a responsible and responsive government to Edo people in 2016.”

Apart Imasuen, the two other people suspended by the party were former Deputy Chairman, Hon Christopher Adesotu and former Organising Secretary, Mr Richard Ehimagbi.

Edo politics, never a dull moment. Maybe Imasuen should have made this move since. I think he will fit well in APC. He is as loud mouthed and dramatic as most of the APC clowns in Edo State.
