Jimoh Ibrahim accuses INEC staff of demanding $1m bribe
The factional governorship candidate of the PDP in Ondo State, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu, over the Ondo State governorship election.
According to Ibrahim, a staff of INEC, whose name he failed to disclose, demanded for a bribe of $1million before his nomination would be accepted.
Ibrahim, who stated this at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, said in the petition dated October 21, that the INEC staff insisted that she would not obey the court order recognising Ibrahim as the PDP candidate if she is not paid.
It would be recalled that Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had declared Ibrahim as the authentic candidate of the PDP, as against Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate put forward by the Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee.
