Kane tops PL goal chart as Spurs outclass Leicester

Tottenham striker Harry Kane scored has topped the top scorers chart in the Premier League after scoring four goals as Tottenham produced a superb performance to thrash Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night.

The 23-year old, who has been in prolific form all season, increased his league tally to 26 goals this season, moving ahead of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku on 24 in the race for the Golden Boot.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is on 23. With all teams having one game left, Kane will be hoping to stay ahead this weekend – the final day of the season.

Though Chelsea ended their Premier League title hopes last week, the Mauricio Pochettino’s side didn’t show any sign of relaxing as Kane opened the scoring 25 minutes into the game.

The England international made it 3-1 on the hour mark after Son Heung-min must have doubled their lead on 36 minutes and Ben Chilwell momentarily sparked hopes for the home side early on.

Son scored again in the 77th minute, Kane made it a hat-trick ten minutes later, before rattling in his 26th league goals for the campaign in stoppage time.

Kane becomes the fifth player in Premier League history to score 25+ goals in successive seasons (Robbie Fowler, Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Robin van Persie are the others).

Spurs, who are guaranteed to finish the campaign in second spot, will play their final game of the 2016-17 season away at Hull City on Sunday.
