Madrid derby in UEFA Super Cup

Recently-crowned Champions League champions Real Madrid will face their city rivals Atletico Madrid, winners of the Europa League, in an all-Spanish European Super Cup on August 14.

Real saw of Liverpool 3-1 to lift the Champions League title on Saturday night, thereby setting up a date with Atleti who defeated French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille 3-0 in the Europa League Final last week.

The UEFA Super Cup is played between winners of the two competitions.

The match will be played at Tallinn’s LilleKula Arena, marking the first time both sides will contest an official game in Estonia.

Real Madrid won the previous Super Cup, courtesy of a 2-1 win against Manchester United at the start of the just-concluded season.

They will also represent Europe once more in the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on December 12.
