The suspension of 20 Local Government Chairmen in 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ogun State, has been described as “satanic and inordinate by the Labour Party (LP).

According to the Ogun State chapter of the party, the suspension of the 57 LGA Chairmen which is the first move after the inauguration of Governor Dapo Abiodun shows that his administration is an opponent of the agitation for LG autonomy.

Reacting to the suspension initiated by Governor Abiodun, the Chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State, Abayomi Arabambi on Sunday said the LGs, by design, should be a government body which should operate in “its independence and not an appendage of any state government or be tossed around by any governor.”

“Finally, we shall promptly initiate a court proceedings to seek redress as a matter of urgent state importance should Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun refuses to heed to the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria within 7 days.”
