Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr is confident that his team’s 4-2 victory over the Crocodiles of Lesotho has put them in good position to qualify for Cameroon 2021.

Nigeria bagged their second win on the road to the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Maseru, thanks to a brace from Victor Osimhen and a goal each from Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze.

Rohr’s men had started their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 win against Benin Republic in Uyo last Wednesday.

“I want to thank Lesotho people for their hospitality. We know it will be difficult to play here [Maseru]. Lesotho gave us a lot of troubles,” Rohr told a post-match news conference.

“We are happy with the win. It put us in a good position to qualify for the competition.”

In a tweet after Sunday’s victory, Super Eagles defender, Williams Troost-Ekong, who captained the team from the start, hailed his teammates for the performance.

Man of the match, Osimhen, who was involved in all four goals, also reacted to the victory on social media.

Nigeria are at the top of the Group L with six points, while the Squirrels of Benin, who defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 on Sunday, are second in the group with three points.

Sierra Leone and Lesotho occupy third and fourth positions respectively with a point each.
