Ronaldo speaks on Spurs defeat, says Madrid facing bad time

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that Real Madrid are facing a bad time after losing 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Having been beaten by newly promoted La Liga side, Girona, last Sunday, their defeat to Spurs has prompted more talks of a difficult period for Madrid, but Ronaldo insists that the team are fighting hard to make a change.

“It’s a bad time for us because we’re losing and we’re used to winning,” the winger said after the game.

“It’s a bad patch for us, but we want to change it and I’m sure we will. This is the beginning, we still have a lot of time to improve and I’m convinced that we will.

“There’s been no harm done, but bad runs aren’t good and we have to change things.

“We have to admit that we aren’t as we’d like to be. I don’t see things to be so bad, but we have to be confident.

“When you don’t win, people try to look for things, but I’m here talking, showing my face for my teammates, and I’m confident that things will change.

The home team were leading 3-0 up to the 80th minute when Ronaldo pulled one back for Madrid. And the Portuguese thinks it is a ‘big blow’ for the champions to trail in that capacity.

“It was a very big blow to go 3-0 down, although for me it wasn’t a good reflection of what happened on the pitch,” he added.

“Their first goal was offside, just like the other day. Our attitude is to run and fight, like it was at Girona (where they also lost 2-1 last weekend).”

Real will face Las Palmas this weekend in La Liga, and will hope to secure their first win in three games.
