Runaway COVID-19 patient declared wanted by Zamfara govt

The Zamfara State government led by Governor Bello Matawalle has declared a patient who tested positive for COVID-19, identified as Jamilu Shinkafi, wanted, for absconding after realising the outcome of the test result.

This development was revealed on Thursday by Yahaya Kanoma, the Zamfara State Health Commissioner, who noted that efforts were being intensified to apprehend Shinkafi.

Kanoma who revealed that Shinkafi’s house as well as the entire area has been disinfected on the order of the state government said; “We are still searching for him. He was in Abuja yesterday and today he left for Kaduna. We will surely arrest him.

“We even informed the Federal Ministry of Health about this sad development and Insha Allah, we are going to track him and arrest him,” he added.

This development comes days after the state government informed that it had started the screening of Almajiris sent to the state after they were evacuated by the Kano State government.

Governor Matawalle who made this known days ago while addressing newsmen in the state said that adequate arrangement has been made to absorb the returnees during the Ramadan period.

The governor who revealed this during a state-wide broadcast also informed that his administration was ready to receive all the Almajiris from other states, who are indigenes of Zamfara.
