Nigeria’s Lobi Stars crash out of CAF Champions League

Nigeria’s only representatives at the CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars have crashed out of the competition in the group stage.

Their ouster was despite recording a 2-0 victory against Ivorien club ASEC Mimosas, with Sikiru Alimi scoring both goals at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu on Saturday.

The Nigerian League champions finished third in Group A with seven points from six games.

Solomon Ogbeide’s men crashed out alongside ASEC, who finished on seven points too but with a worse goal difference.

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca will represent the group at the quarter-finals.
