Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the unfortunate pipeline explosion that killed about 20 persons and injured several others in the Abule Ado area of the state on Sunday. 3. Nigerian govt may suspend $22.7bn borrowing plans

The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, said on Monday the Federal Government may suspend its $22.7 billion external borrowing plans due to current realities in the global economic landscape. Ahmed, who disclosed this to journalists at the 2020 International Conference on the Nigerian Commodities Market organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Abuja, said the government may not go ahead with the borrowing plans, even if it secures the National Assembly’s approval. 4. AGF fails to arraign INEC officials for alleged falsification of poll results

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF) on Monday failed to arraign two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over their alleged involvement in electoral fraud. The officials – Sulaiman Ikhuoriah and Olugbenga Omotiloye – were expected to be arraigned at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Maitama, for alleged alteration of results during the February 23, 2019, Presidential and National Assembly elections. The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday set aside the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended five of its members involved in creating chaos in the legislative chambers last week during moves to remove the dethroned Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II late last week. Abdulazeez Gafasa, the Speaker of the Kano State Assembly, on Monday announced the suspension of the five members for six months over last week’s rowdy session in the house. Read more

9. Court orders army chief to produce Wadume’s alleged accomplices for arraignment

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday ordered the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce the army officers that allegedly aided the escape of a suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala (Wadume) in court. The judge also asked Buratai or any other person in whose custody the suspects were kept to provide them in court by March 30. Read more
