Nigerian celebrities condemn Twitter ban

Nigerian thespian-cum-politician, Desmond Elliot has joined other notable celebrities who are condemning the ban placed on the social media platform, Twitter by the Nigerian government.

Desmond Elliot specifically stated that the suspension of the microblogging site, Twitter is a violation of the fundamental rights of Nigerians.

In a Twitter thread, Elliot; the lawmaker representing Surulere at the Lagos State House of Assembly called on the federal government to reverse the suspension stating that the ban.

‘no matter the reasons proffered tramples upon our fundamental rights as people.’

The legislator said;

“I want to admonish our government to always remember that the people’s right to express themselves freely must not be compromised. This ban; no matter the reasons proffered tramples upon our fundamental rights as people.”

Other Nigerian notable celebrities have also spoken pertaining to the Twitter ban. Here is what entertainment polymath, Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W had to say.

”Nigerian Government bans Twitter, and announce the ban ON Twitter. You can’t make this up. Clueless.

They can’t stop kidnapping, armed robbery, and terrorism…

Ubi Franklin, a renowned Nigerian music executive seems to be unperturbed by the ongoing outcry by young Nigerians following the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to suspend the operations of the microblogging platform Twitter in Nigeria indefinitely.

In photos and videos trending online, the serial baby daddy and special adviser on tourism to the Governor of Cross River state is seen raising high with excitement the All Progressives Congress (APC) symbolic flag and broom, while the people cheered on.

He also published a note on his Instagram platform to explain the reason for his defection.

The father of three on Sunday morning said that a married man who allows other men to get intimate with his wife is finished.

If you do not obey God’s Command, he CAN NOT Answer your prayers.

“Because for him to solve our problems we have to obey his son, who gave us a command under God’s blood oath, instructing us to love one another, putting the other person’s interests above our own.

“Many pagan nations understand this principle, hence are succeeding.

“Until this instruction is adhered to, mark my words, Nigeria would continue in this trend.”
