The murder case involving Danish national, Peter Nielsen, 53, who allegedly killed his Nigerian wife, Zainab Ali-Nielsen, better known in music circles as Alizee, and their three-year-old daughter Petra has been adjourned by Justice Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile of the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere.

The presiding judge adjourned the case till February 20 for the continuation of trial after police inspector, Babashola Afolayan, established that Nielsen is the principal suspect in the murder case.

During cross-examination by Nielsen’s counsel, Olasupo Shasore (SAN), Afolayan said Nielsen was the only suspect because on July 18, 2017, his deceased wife, Zainab, had come to the Ikoyi Police Station around 2am and tabled a report about how he battered her around 1am on the same day she was murdered.

Afolayan said; “On July 18, 2017, the defendant’s wife came around 2am and complained about the defendant that around 1am, he pushed her to the bed and pressed her neck and beat her up; it was a case of assault occasioning harm against the defendant. She further reported that that day was the third time he would be beating her.

“She also added that she suspected that Nielsen was a drug addict, stating that whenever he took drugs, he beat her up; all these made him (Nielsen) to be the principal suspect.”

According to Afolayan at the conclusion of his evidence, he went for investigation into the murder case at the residence of the accused, and he made sure that nobody went in and out of the compound at the time.

Recall that the details of the post-mortem examination conducted on the late musician which was made known at a press briefing by the former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, revealed that the artiste died of trauma.

Edgal said the trauma suffered by the entertainer emanated from the injuries inflicted on her head by her husband, Peter Nielsen.

Revealing more, Edgal said the autopsy on Zainab’s corpse and forensic report gathered from the scene of crime had shown more revelations.

The CP said, “The autopsy report revealed that Mrs. Zainab Nielsen suffered trauma as a result of the impact on her head.

“Secondly, the forensic experts revealed that there were bloodstains from the couple’s bedroom to the kitchen.

“Even though they were cleverly wiped from the floor, they were still able to detect the stains with the application of special chemical reagents.

“In addition, bloodstains were also discovered on the wash hand basins and on the hand towel the suspect used in wiping his hands after the commission of the offence.”
