D’Tigress to battle hosts Australia, four others in FIBA World Cup group

Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress will be locking horns with the hosts of the FIBA Women’s World Cup, Australia.

The Otis Hugley ladies, who clinched qualification for the tournament last month in Belgrade, discovered their group foes on Thursday when the draw was done.

D’Tigress were also drawn against France, Canada, Japan and Serbia in Group B of the World Cup campaign billed to hold in September.

A total of 12 teams will be participating in the tournament in Sydney, with six teams in each group A and B.

Four teams from each group are expected to advance to the next round, while the two bottom teams would crash out early.

Five-time African champions D’Tigress will hope to be among the top four in group B to stay on in the competition scheduled for 22 September to 1 October, 2022.
