Kano Hisbah arrests 32 beggars

The arrest of 32 beggars in the Kano metropolis on Saturday, has been confirmed by the State Hisbah Board.

Mallam Lawan Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the board confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Ibrahim, the beggars were arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday on Ajasa Road, Lodge Road, Kantin Kwari Market, and Sabon Gari.

He also noted that the beggars were nabbed for allegedly violating the law banning street begging in the state.

Ibrahim, while giving a low down of the beggars who were arrested, said 16 of them were adults and 16 male children.

“Those arrested will be screened and first time offenders among them will be granted bail and handed over to their relatives while others will be charged to court,“ he said.
