1. Time to move on, Buhari counsels PDP

President Muhammadu Buhari has applauded the ruling of the Supreme Court dismissing the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar against him. Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohammed, in his judgment on Wednesday, dismissed the PDP’s appeal challenging Buhari’s victory in the February 23, 2019 presidential election for lacking merit. Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, thanked Nigerians for the mandate given to him to run the affairs of the country for another four years. 2. FEC approves N2.49b for consultancy work for NDIC hqtrs

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday approved N5.72 billion for the construction of offices for the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC). Out of the N5.72 billion approved by FEC, N2.49 billion was for consultancy for stage three work on the NDIC corporate offices in Abuja and Lagos, while N3.23 was earmarked for the construction of NDIC zonal office in Bauchi. 5. NASS summons Army Chief, Buratai over planned ‘Operation Positive Identification’

The Nigerian Senate has also rejected the planned nationwide ‘Operation Positive Identification’ by the military. Recall that the House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected the planned nationwide exercise stating that it was an “infringement on the rights of Nigerians.” Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume, on Wednesday told journalists that such exercise was not acceptable to the federal lawmakers being the true representatives of the people. 6. Stop complaining about Buhari’s trips, Obasanjo travelled more —Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday reacted to criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign trips, saying the president was yet to match one of his predecessors on trips to foreign lands. Oshiomhole, who faulted critics of the President’s frequent trips abroad, cited a book written by the late Gani Fawehinmi where he calculated the number of days former President Olusegun Obasanjo spent in foreign lands during his eight-year tenure. The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has said Wednesday’s verdict on the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was “surprising to many Nigerians.” They, however, noted that the decision was final as it was from the Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the land. 9. Lagos Assembly obeys court order, halts Ambode’s probe

The Lagos State House of Assembly has decided to suspend the probe of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over procurement of 820 buses for public transportation in the state. This was in deference to a High Court ruling urging the parties to maintain status quo. Ambode had instituted a suit against the Assembly, the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa and other members of the House ad-hoc committee on the probe, to contest the constitutionality of the probe, accusing them of bias and misrepresentation of facts. 10. EFCC arrests 30 students in raids on OOU, MAPOLY and FUNAAB

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 30 students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, as well as those of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ibogun campus. According to report, the anti-corruption body arrested FUNAAB, MAPOLY students on Wednesday after storming the Ibogun campus of the OOU in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State to arrest some students of the school.
