Arsenal beat Newcastle to keep title dreams alive

Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in a Premier League clash on Sunday to keep their title dreams alive.

Mikel Arteta’s side, who have played one game more than leaders Manchester City, are now just one point behind at the summit.

Newcastle, attempting to strengthen their push for a place in the Champions League next season, were the favourites to win, but lost.

Arsenal got ahead in the 14th minute when captain Martin Odegaard opened scoring following up his double against Chelsea in midweek.

He drilled his 15th Premier League goal of the season past Newcastle keeper Nick Pope from 25 yards.

The Gunners hit the net again 19 minutes from time when Fabian Schar turned Martinelli’s cross into his own net to hand the visitors a big victory.
