National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has condemned the continued detention of the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, and Olawale Bakare by the Department of State Services (DSS). Nigeria Governors’ Forum has described as mischievous reports by an online medium claiming that its chairman and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, was denied an entry visa by the United States of America. 4. Ohanaeze to Atiku: Ignore entreaties, don’t vie for presidency in 2023

Afraid that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could be a ‘clog in the wheel’ of an Igbo person aspiring to become the President in 2023, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has urged the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general election not to contest in that poll. The group’s president-general, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, made the appeal in a statement on Friday. He urged Atiku to maintain the “gentleman’s” agreement on power rotation and show maturity by ignoring calls to contest in the 2023 election. Read more

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto State, Matthew Kukah, has cautioned the Federal Government on the proposed move to regulate social media. 6. Court dismisses appeals against Sanwo-Olu’s election victory

Babajide Sanwo-olu has been affirmed as the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Lagos state. This is as the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, on Saturday, dismissed the appeal by the governorship candidates of Labour Party (LP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD). The two parties and their candidates had appealed the September 23 judgment of the Lagos State Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory. Read more

7. KOGI GUBER: UPC candidate disowns party chairman over support for Yahaya Bello

Candidate of the United Peoples’ Congress (UPC) in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State, Sunday Abuh, has contradicted claims by the party chairman that he (Abuh) had stepped down from the race and endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Moses Damisa, UPC Chairman in Kogi, had told newsmen on Friday that Abuh had stepped down for Gov Bello, adding that the party’s structure had been collapsed into Bello’s structures. Read more

The Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar, Cross River State has ruled in favour of Godswill Akpabio and ordered a rerun election in Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district. It nullified the election of Chris Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced the winner of the February 23, 2019 National Assembly election in the Senatorial District. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two suspected currency counterfeiters in Abuja. The EFCC, in a statement issued by its Spokesman Wilson Uwujaren, listed the suspects as Odoh Lazarus Offor and Nnamani Emmanuel. Read more

10. Another fuel tanker accident in Anambra

Residents of Akwa, Anambra State, were thrown into panic on Saturday after a fuel-laden tanker fell into a gutter at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church along Zik Avenue, Awka. However, no causality was recorded in the accident as men of the state fire service quickly arrived at the scene to prevent fire outbreak.
