Zaha scores, Moses injured as Palace shock Chelsea

Ivory Coast winger, Wilfried Zaha was on target as struggling Crystal Palace handed Premier League champions a shock defeat on Saturday.

Having lost all seven of their previous games, Palace scored their first goals and earned their first points of the season in a 2-1 victory against their visitors.

The Roy Hodgson’s men took the lead after a Cesar Azpilicueta own goal, but the lead lasted only eight minutes as Cesc Fabregas’ corner was headed in by Tiemoue Bakayoko on 18 minutes.

Zaha then scored the winner at the stroke of halftime, and the hosts held on after the interval to grab the win.

“The first goal was massive for our confidence – it was a massive boost for the team. My goal was at the right time too, because Chelsea were coming back. I’m buzzing to have scored it.

“It’s a dream, managing to beat Chelsea at home. Deffo this is the start of a fightback – now we’ve got more confidence we can start to climb up the table.”

Meanwhile, Nigerian star, Victor Moses sustained a suspected hamstring injury as he was hobbled off after 38 minutes in the game.

Palace will play away to Newcastle next while Chelsea will host Roma in the Champions League next week.
